(Rockette Morton) who were vital MAGIC BAND musicians playing with CAPTAIN
BEEFHEART from 1968 through 1974, along with master percussionist ARTIE TRIPP

“JUST LIKE A LOVER”
Lyrics by Ted Alvy
Music by Mark Boston
[Rockette Morton CD “Love Space”]
SHE SINGS JUST LIKE A LOVER
HER VOICE INVITIN' PLEASURE
I SEEK HER HIDDEN TREASURE..A MELODY EROTIC
TO MAKE MY DREAMS EXOTIC
SHE WALKS JUST LIKE A LOVER
HER MOVEMENT LIKE A NOTION
I SEEK HER MAGIC POTION..A STROLL DOWN
TO MAKE MY MIND INSANE
SHE SMELLS JUST LIKE A LOVER
HER FRAGRANT FLOWERS BLOOM
I SEEK HER SWEET PERFUME..A BREATH OF MORNING SKY
TO MAKE MY BODY HIGH

Below are some of many UNRECORDED LYRICS by TED ALVY [ASCAP]
(most of them in search of a composer to set them to music):
SAUCER BY THE BAY by Ted Alvy
I can feel it in my bones, when the moon is full,
I can feel it in my bones, out there all alone
Somebody up there, guided by the light
Somebody up there, on a night flight
Just before moonrise, in the black of night,
The ocean waves are silent, all the stars are bright,
Out among the sand dunes, hidden out of sight,
Come from far away, the saucer by the bay
Full of speculation, the hippies understand,
The reason for the visit, the specter in the sand,
Dirt clouds the sunlight, it has gotten out of hand,
Come from far away, the saucer by the bay
Somebody up there, guided by the light
Somebody up there, on a night flight
Only some have seen them, just a chosen few,
Some are here among us, with feelings that are new,
Now the time is coming, for everyone to view,
Come from far away, the saucer by the bay
Somebody up there, guided by the light
Somebody up there, on a night flight

I wrote the lyrics to "Saucer By The Bay" near Humboldt Bay,
California
after a rare tide covered the peninsula with dozens of sand dollars that
were about to be destroyed by the next tide, so I rescued many of them
and gave them away. Peace, Ted Alvy
THAT LONE STAR LADY by Ted Alvy
Drinkin' in a Roadhouse near
Laughin' and havin' a good show,
Up steps this dusty denim lady,
Gives me a smile and off we go.
Up through the long river valley,
Gettin' high though there's flatland below,
Since I loved that Lone Star Lady,
I've forgotten the meaning of slow.
I grew up with sad songs about
Fast cowboys and truckers filled my dreams,
I once tried
Hollywoodland is as strange as it seems.
Just set me north of the
Anywhere south of the panhandle tip,
Since I loved that Lone Star Lady,

I NEED A CHANGE by Michael Robinson & Ted Alvy
I sweat out forty hours a week in the office every day
But when I take that old check home my wife takes it
away
She gives me an allowance for my haircuts, smokes and such
Then goes out and buys some furs so she'll be soft to touch
I need a change, well I need a change, ya
I need a change from this life I'm livin'
'Cause it ain't no good
I never did a thing that someone wasn't on my back
I don't want to eat with silver forks or drive a Cadillac
I'd be content if left alone to live my life complete
Without the boss and naggin' that I always have to eat
I need a change, well I need a change, ya
I need a change from this life I'm livin'
'Cause it ain't no good
I don't know why I'm still livin' life it's turned into a rut
I'd go right out and kill myself but I ain't got the gut
There's nothin' left for me to do I'm turnin' old and pale
I might as well go have some fun and end up lyin' in jail
I need a change, well I need a change, ya
I need a change from this life I'm livin'
'Cause it ain't no good
You know I'm tryin' very hard to cure my circumstance
But society is killin' me it won't give me a chance
I go out to the bars at night to try 'n drown my grief
My kids stare at their drunk old man in horror and disbelief
I need a change, well I need a change, ya
I need a change from this life I'm livin'
'Cause it ain't no good
